The seller gives short directions for AltBurn Keto: two capsules a day with water before a meal. The harder part is working out whether it does anything for you. This guide covers the directions, the habits around them and a two-week log you can use to judge for yourself.
The seller of AltBurn Keto states that each bottle holds 30 capsules, that a serving is two capsules a day and that one bottle therefore lasts 15 days. Everything in this guide that comes from the seller is labelled that way, because we could not independently confirm the directions, the amount of each ingredient or the product's status on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. When your bottle arrives, the label on it beats anything written here.
What the seller says: how many capsules and when
- Take 2 capsules once a day. That is the serving the seller gives. It states that the serving should not be exceeded.
- Swallow them with water. A full glass is a reasonable reading of "with water", and it matters more than usual with mineral salts in the mix.
- Take them 20 to 30 minutes before a meal. The seller does not say which meal, so pick one you eat reliably.
- Keep to the same time each day. That is our suggestion rather than the seller's, and it makes the log below far easier to read.
At two capsules a day, a 30-capsule bottle covers 15 days. If you want to use it for a full month you need two bottles, and that is worth knowing before you choose a pack size.
With food, before food or on an empty stomach?
The seller's wording puts the capsules shortly before a meal, which means you take them on a fairly empty stomach and eat soon after. The blend, according to the seller, is BHB salts (sodium, calcium and magnesium beta-hydroxybutyrate), green tea leaf extract and apple cider vinegar. Mineral salts and vinegar can both be hard on some stomachs. If you get nausea, reflux or cramping, the practical step is to take the capsules just before a proper meal rather than a snack, and to ask your pharmacist whether that suits you. Green tea extract can contain caffeine, although the seller does not disclose how much, so if you are sensitive it is sensible to avoid taking it late in the day.
Not a substitute for the label. The seller says the amount of each individual ingredient is part of a proprietary blend. That means we cannot tell you how much caffeine, sodium or magnesium you are getting per capsule. If you take medicines or have a health condition, show the label to your pharmacist.
How to keep a simple two-week log
One bottle gives you 15 days, which is a neat window to check how you feel. A log will not prove that a capsule did or did not cause anything, but it stops you relying on memory, and memory flatters whatever you hoped would work. Use a notes app or a bit of paper on the fridge.
| What to record | How and when | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Weight (kg) | Same scale, first thing in the morning after the toilet, before food or drink | Cuts out the noise from meals and clothes |
| Waist (cm) | Tape measure at belly button height, once a week | Shows change that the scale can hide |
| Energy, 1 to 10 | Evening, one number | Catches the flat, foggy days early |
| Hunger, 1 to 10 | Before the meal you take the capsules ahead of | Shows whether your appetite changed at all |
| Side effects | Any tummy upset, headache, palpitations, sleep changes, in a few words | Tells you whether to stop and gives your GP something concrete |
| Capsules taken (yes/no) | Tick when done | Makes missed days visible |
Be honest with yourself about what the log can show. Body weight moves a kilo or two from water alone, particularly in the first week of cutting carbohydrates, and two weeks is far too short to say anything about body fat. If you change your food at the same time as you start the capsules, you cannot separate the two. The log is mainly a safety tool: it tells you whether you tolerate the product, and whether any change in the numbers is bigger than what a diet change would explain. For context on size: Eat for Health says losing even 5 kg can make a difference to how you feel and to some health risks, so a realistic target is a few kilograms over months, not a dramatic change in a fortnight. In one 8-week randomised trial of BHB mineral salts alongside modest calorie restriction in 51 adults, both the BHB and placebo groups lost weight, and the differences between the groups were not statistically significant. For the evidence side, see our guide on whether BHB keto capsules work for weight loss.
What to pair it with
- Water. Healthdirect lists dehydration among the short-term effects of a keto-style diet, so drink to thirst and a little more.
- Electrolytes from food. Leafy greens, avocado, nuts, seeds, dairy or fortified alternatives and normal seasoning cover most people's needs. Extra mineral tablets on top of a mineral-salt capsule are the wrong direction unless a doctor tells you otherwise.
- Protein at each meal. Eggs, fish, chicken, lean red meat, tofu or Greek yoghurt keep you fuller and help hold on to muscle while you eat less.
- Fibre. Vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes where your carbohydrate budget allows. Constipation is one of the commonest complaints on low-carbohydrate eating.
The food side matters far more than the capsule. Our keto diet guide for Australians covers supermarket staples, a sample day and the keto flu.
What not to do
- Do not double up. More capsules does not mean more effect, and the seller states the serving should not be exceeded. With sodium, calcium and magnesium salts in the blend, extra capsules mean extra minerals.
- Do not stack it with other caffeine, ketone or "fat burner" products. Because the amounts in this blend are not disclosed, you cannot tell how much you would be adding on top.
- Do not treat it as a meal replacement or a licence to eat more. Nothing in the seller's directions says that, and a capsule is not food.
- Do not start without checking with your GP or pharmacist if you take medicines. Healthdirect says to speak to your doctor before taking ketone supplements, and it flags extra risk for people on insulin or SGLT-2 inhibitors for diabetes. More on this in our side effects guide.
What if I miss a dose?
We did not find any missed-dose instruction on the pages we saw, so this is general good practice rather than the seller's advice. If you forget, skip it and carry on the next day. Do not take four capsules to catch up. Mark the day as missed in your log and, if it keeps happening, move the capsules to a spot in your routine you cannot forget, such as next to the kettle or your lunch box.
Storage
Follow the label on your bottle. As general practice for capsules, keep the lid tightly closed, store the bottle somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sun, and keep it out of reach of children. In an Australian summer that means not leaving the parcel in a hot letterbox or on the dashboard of the car. Heat and humidity are the usual enemies of capsules, so the bathroom cabinet is not ideal either.
When to stop and who to call
Stop taking the capsules and get medical advice if you have persistent vomiting, severe or ongoing diarrhoea, severe stomach pain, a racing or irregular heartbeat, dark urine or yellowing of the skin or eyes, a rash or swelling, or trouble breathing. For anything urgent call 000. For non-urgent advice, healthdirect's 24-hour line is 1800 022 222. You can also report a suspected side effect to the TGA through its adverse event reporting page, which is listed in the sources below. It is also reasonable to stop if you simply feel worse and your log shows it.
Check with your GP before you start if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have type 1 diabetes, have kidney disease, or take medicines for blood pressure, fluid or diabetes. Healthdirect lists pregnancy, breastfeeding, type 1 diabetes, kidney disease and risk of an eating disorder among the situations where a ketogenic diet is not recommended.
How many bottles should you buy first?
If you decide to try it, start with the smallest pack the seller offers. The seller's bonus structure, buy 2 get 1 free and buy 3 get 2 free at checkout, lowers the average price per bottle, but it is a sales structure and not a medical need. A two-week log fits inside one bottle. Buying five bottles to find out whether you tolerate the first one is a bigger commitment than it needs to be, and the seller's 60-day guarantee, per its terms, asks you to send products back at your own cost, so the more bottles you hold the more you may have to post. We cover the numbers in our price, shipping and refund guide.
Whatever you choose, look at the checkout box about automatic refills before paying, and write down the date you ordered so you can track the 60 days.

How many AltBurn Keto capsules should I take a day?
According to the seller, two capsules once a day with water, 20 to 30 minutes before a meal, and the stated serving should not be exceeded.
Can I take AltBurn Keto on an empty stomach?
The seller's directions put the capsules 20 to 30 minutes before a meal, so you take them fairly empty and eat soon after. If it upsets your stomach, ask your pharmacist about taking it just before a proper meal.
How long does one bottle last?
A bottle holds 30 capsules. At the seller's serving of two a day, that is 15 days, so a month of use needs two bottles.
What if I miss a dose?
We found no missed-dose advice from the seller. As general practice, skip the missed dose and carry on the next day. Do not double up.
How long should I try it before judging whether it helps?
A two-week log covers one bottle and is useful for checking how you tolerate it. It is too short to say anything reliable about body fat, and any change should be compared with what your diet change alone would explain.
Can I take it with coffee or other supplements?
We would not stack it with other caffeine, ketone or fat burner products, because the amount of each ingredient in the blend is not disclosed. Show the label to your pharmacist if you take other supplements or medicines.
