AltBurn Keto lists three active ingredients inside a single 800 mg "proprietary blend". That tells you what is in it, but not how much, and the "how much" is what decides whether an ingredient matters.
This guide goes through each ingredient on the AltBurn Keto page, what the research actually shows, and where the label leaves gaps. We do not claim the capsules cause weight loss, and nothing here is medical advice.

The proprietary blend problem
A proprietary blend lists the ingredients and the combined weight, and keeps the individual amounts private. Ingredients are normally listed in descending order of weight, but that is not something we can confirm for this label, and even if it holds, the first ingredient could be 700 mg or 300 mg of the 800 mg.
That matters for three reasons. You cannot compare the capsule with the doses used in studies. You cannot work out how much caffeine or green tea catechin you take, which matters if you drink coffee or take other supplements. And you cannot judge the mineral load from the salts. If a brand is confident in its formula, it can publish the numbers. If you want to buy it, ask the seller in writing for the per-ingredient doses and keep the reply.
BHB salts: what they are and what studies show
BHB stands for beta-hydroxybutyrate, one of the ketone bodies your body makes when you eat very little carbohydrate or fast for a long time. In supplements, BHB is bound to a mineral, so you get a "salt", such as sodium BHB, calcium BHB or magnesium BHB. AltBurn Keto uses all three.
Taking BHB can raise the level of ketones in the blood for a short time. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 43 trials, published in Advances in Nutrition, found that ingesting exogenous ketones increased blood BHB and lowered blood glucose in the short term. It also found larger effects from ketone monoesters than from ketone salts, and noted limited evidence on prolonged supplementation (PubMed 35380602).
A higher ketone reading is not the same as fat loss. In an 8-week randomised, placebo-controlled trial of 51 adults on a modest calorie-restricted diet, both the BHB mineral salt group and the placebo group lost body weight. The differences between the groups for body composition were not statistically significant (PubMed 41305632). Put simply, the study does not show that the capsule made the difference. We go through this in more detail in our guide on whether BHB capsules work.
Ketones from a capsule are not the same as ketosis from diet. Nutritional ketosis comes from your body burning stored fat because carbohydrate is low. A capsule adds ketones on top of whatever you ate. Your body is still running on whatever fuel you gave it.
Sodium, calcium and magnesium: the mineral load
Because BHB is delivered as mineral salts, every dose brings sodium, calcium and magnesium with it. Without per-ingredient doses we cannot say how much. The seller's page says the product is free of added salt, but that does not remove the sodium that is part of sodium BHB. For most healthy adults small amounts of these minerals are unremarkable. They matter more if you have kidney disease, are on a low-sodium diet for blood pressure, take diuretics, or already take calcium or magnesium supplements. Magnesium in particular can loosen the bowels at higher intakes, which is one reason some people report an upset stomach with mineral salts. See our side effects guide for who should check first.
Green tea leaf extract: caffeine and EGCG
Green tea extract is a concentrated form of the leaf. It usually contains caffeine and catechins, the main one being EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). The label does not say how much of either is in the capsule.
Caffeine can cause jitters, a fast heartbeat or trouble sleeping in people who are sensitive. That is why we suggest not taking capsules late in the day if you notice it, and counting your coffee, tea and energy drinks together.
Catechins have a different issue. The European Food Safety Authority reviewed green tea catechins in 2018. It concluded that green tea brewed the traditional way is generally considered safe at normal intakes, but that rare cases of liver injury have been reported, and that trials showed supplement doses of 800 mg EGCG a day or more raised liver enzymes. It also noted that supplements provide anywhere from 5 to 1,000 mg EGCG a day (PubMed 32625874). A separate United States Pharmacopeia review found case reports linking liver injury to EGCG intakes from 140 mg up to around 1,000 mg a day, with large differences between individuals (PubMed 32140423).
We have no reason to say AltBurn Keto reaches those amounts. The point is that we cannot tell, and the 800 mg blend must also fit BHB and vinegar. If you have liver disease, drink a lot of alcohol or take other green tea products, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking any green tea extract capsule. Stop and get advice if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or pain in the upper right abdomen.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV)
Apple cider vinegar is a popular ingredient in weight management products. We did not find strong, consistent evidence we would rely on to say that ACV in a capsule helps with weight, and the seller does not disclose the dose.
What is well understood is that vinegar is acidic. Drinking it neat can wear tooth enamel and irritate the throat. A capsule largely avoids the contact with teeth, but a dry capsule taken with too little water can still sit in the oesophagus. Take capsules with a full glass of water. Vinegar may also slow how quickly the stomach empties, so people with gastroparesis, which is slow stomach emptying that can occur with diabetes, should check with their GP. If you take insulin or diuretics, ask your pharmacist whether concentrated vinegar products could interact with them.
Gelatin, rice and magnesium stearate
- Gelatin: the capsule shell. It is animal derived, so the capsules are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
- Rice: used as a filler. It is not a common cause of problems, but it is listed for anyone avoiding it.
- Magnesium stearate: a flow agent used in many tablets and capsules. In normal amounts it is widely used and not a worry for most people.
The seller says the product contains no yeast, corn, wheat, soy, gluten, dairy, added salt, sugar, preservatives or colours. We could not check that against a lab report or a safety data sheet. If you have a severe allergy or coeliac disease, ask the seller for written confirmation and talk to your pharmacist.
What we could not verify
- The dose of BHB, green tea extract and vinegar in each capsule.
- The caffeine and EGCG content.
- A listing on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (we saw no AUST L number).
- A lab report or the "GMP-certified" claim.
- The identity of the company beyond the trading name on the checkout.
Our legitimacy check covers these gaps and how to look them up.
Questions to ask before you buy
- What is the dose of each ingredient? Ask for it in milligrams.
- How much caffeine and EGCG per serve? Compare it with your coffee and tea.
- Is there an AUST L number? Search it yourself on the TGA's ARTG database.
- Can I see a lab report? Ask for heavy metals and microbial results.
- What medicines do I take? Show the label to your pharmacist before the first dose.
Frequently asked questions
What is in AltBurn Keto capsules?
According to the seller, each two-capsule serve has 800 mg of a proprietary blend of BHB salts (sodium, calcium and magnesium), green tea leaf extract and apple cider vinegar. The other ingredients are gelatin, rice and magnesium stearate.
How much BHB is in each AltBurn Keto capsule?
The seller does not say. Only the 800 mg total for the blend is shown, so the dose of each ingredient is unknown.
Are AltBurn Keto capsules vegan?
No. The capsule shell lists gelatin, which comes from animals, so the capsules are not vegetarian or vegan.
Does green tea extract in a capsule have a safety limit?
The European Food Safety Authority found that supplement doses of 800 mg EGCG a day or more raised liver enzymes in trials. We do not know how much EGCG is in AltBurn Keto, so check with your pharmacist if you take other green tea products.
Does apple cider vinegar help with weight loss?
We did not find strong evidence to rely on, and the seller does not disclose the amount in the capsule. It is not a substitute for eating well and staying active.
Does it contain common allergens?
The seller says it is free of yeast, corn, wheat, soy, gluten and dairy. It contains rice and gelatin. Read the label on your bottle and ask your pharmacist if you have a food allergy.
